CSS Cohorts
The Comics Studies Society features several cohorts as part of its mission to promote community engagement and celebrate and foster diversity in comics studies, including diversity in scholarly discipline, career position, job niche, and cultural and personal identity.
The RLC provides opportunities for continuing professional education in comics librarianship, recruitment and mentoring opportunities for professionals in the field, opportunities to engage with comics studies students and scholars on projects of shared interest, and places to discuss their professional and scholarly interests and concerns.
The Comic Scholars of Color Cohort is an affinity group and a safe space for racialized comic scholars who are vulnerable to systemic racism, structural racism, institutional racism, and exclusion from white academic spaces. The cohort seeks to decolonize and diversify comic studies by creating intellectual, social, and critical spaces for nonwhite scholars. Their goal is to cultivate a sense of belonging, visibility, and intellectual affirmation for scholars of color within the field.
